Presentation on localization of humanitarian aid draws more than 200 people from BHA

On January 21, 2022, Daniel Maxwell and Sabina Robillard presented findings from their recent study of the localization of humanitarian assistance to USAID’s Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA). More than 200 people participated. After Dan and Sabina presented the findings from their study,  BHA presented an internal study on the financing of local organizations. The presentations were followed by a discussion about how BHA should move forward with the with localization agenda, particularly in light of USAID Administrator Samantha Power’s speech at Georgetown University in November 2021 in in which she committed to channeling 25% of USAID assistance through local organizations in the next four years.
