Kinsey Spears co-authored a research report on women in the United States military, which was published by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security (GIWP). This report, titled, “Culture, Gender, and Women in the Military,”compiles key findings that illustrate how the combination of an entrenched masculinized military culture and over-reliance on Special Operations Forces (SOF) present an obstacle to women’s full integration and inclusion. It also offers recommendations to the US Department of Defense to address the gender-related issues, which are further discussed in the report. This research report is the third in a series of outputs of a research program at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, supported by the Principality of Liechtenstein.
