Andy Catley and co-authors make book on pastoralism open access

Pastoralism and Development in Africa: Dynamic Change at the Margins (eds. Andy Catley, Jeremy Lind, Ian Scoones) is now available open access, ten years after it was originally published in 2012.

This free version is accompanied a set of new commentaries from book contributors and others, reflecting on changes in the last decade.

The editors reflect on the commentaries in this blog, noting that while much has changed, there are also important continuities. Indeed, despite the persistent proclamation that pastoralism as a system of production and way of life is dead, pastoralism continues although in many new forms.

This book remains relevant and critical for all actors working on pastoralism issues.

The book emerged from a conference in 2011 convened by the Future Agricultures Consortium and The Feinstein International Center and held at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) campus in Addis Ababa.
