Karen Jacobsen discussed on a panel in the Boston Public Library on April 4th, 2019. Topics included how different countries, including the U.S., have reacted to migration, who determines whether someone is a refugee or a migrant, and if the international laws, policies, and organizations that have evolved to assist and protect refugees and migrants have been effective.

This Great Decisions on Refugees and Global Migration was hosted by WorldBoston, Boston Network for International Development, and the United Nations Association of Greater Boston. Other panelists included Jeffrey Thielman, president and CEO of the International Institute of New England, and Mary Truong, executive director of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of Refugees and Immigrants.
