Sahar Fallal is a humanitarian expert with more than 14 years of experience managing complex humanitarian responses in protracted crises in East Africa, the Horn of Africa, the Middle East, and most recently West Africa. Sahar’s work encompasses issues pertaining to armed conflict, humanitarian action, displacement, and fragility, with a focus on food security, livelihoods, human rights, peace building, and democratic governance. She has a solid understanding of international humanitarian and human rights laws and is experienced in advocating for high quality humanitarian assistance and humanitarian access in complex emergencies. Sahar has advocated with local partners; government agencies and ministries; national and international donors; the international humanitarian community; the US government. She also has extensive experience in budget and grant management, as well as cultivating and expanding a diverse donor base.
