On Tuesday September 20 the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) hosted an event “Delivering change: beyond investing in girls.” The event centered around the broad array of development initiatives that have emerged focused on empowering girls. Speakers critically engaged with questions of whether this focus is the most effective way to address development challenges impacting girls and women. The event generated significant interest, with 135 people attending in person and 277 online.

At the event, research was presented on a range of challenges from reducing teenage pregnancy (see the SLRC report), to economic empowerment, to violence prevention. Feinstein’s Rachel Gordon, a co-author of the SLRC report and co-organizer of the event, took part in the following Q&A.
