Karen Jacobsen’s World Bank Report launched at World Urban Forum
The World Bank launched “Cities of Refuge” a report at the World Urban Forum in Kuala Lumpur on February 10, 2018. The report was met with praise at the conference. Karen Jacobsen was the lead consultant on this report.
Cities Today reviewed the report in this story describing the report’s call for an integrated, place-based humanitarian and development approach to address the issues and ensure sustainable urban development.
In a blog interview, Ahmad Qamar al-Dine, Mayor of Tripoli Lebanon, describes the needs for organizations to work directly with municipalities that are receiving a large influx of refugees, such as his city. This is one of the main themes of the report, which states that, “solutions for displacement must target host towns and cities.”
