In Memoriam: Alan Feinstein

It is with great sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein of Cranston, RI on September 7, 2024. He was 93.

Since the Friedman School’s founding more than 40 years ago, the Feinstein Foundation has been one of its most dedicated and loyal supporters. Feinstein’s early contributions were instrumental in creating a Famine Center devoted to domestic and, eventually, global hunger, and in helping the school recruit and retain world-class faculty.

Because of Alan and the Feinstein Foundation’s forward-looking philanthropy, the Feinstein International Center continues to conduct research and train new generations on the topics of hunger and famine.

The entire Friedman School and Tufts community are deeply grateful for Alan Feinstein’s vision and generosity and honored to extend his legacy.
