On April 11, 2015, Dr. Alexis Leanna Henshaw quoted Dr. Dyan Mazurana’s research on female rebels in a Washington Post article titled “Taking Female Armed Rebels Seriously.” Henshaw cites a chapter by Mazurana in Women and Wars (2013, edited by Carol Cohn), in which Mazurana had named 58 countries in which women had been active in non-state armed groups since 1990.
