Daniele Lantagne and colleagues publish on WASH humanitarian response

A research team led by Gurpreet Kaur and including Daniele Lantagne published “Implementation considerations in case-area targeted interventions to prevent cholera transmission in Northeast Nigeria: A qualitative analysis” in PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases in April 2023. As part of a multi-pronged evaluation on whether case-area targeted interventions (CATIs) reduce cholera transmission, this article compares two organizations’ standard operating procedures with information from key informants who implemented CATIs in Nigeria in 2021.

Daniele also co-authored “Gaps in humanitarian WASH response: perspectives from people affected by crises, practitioners, global responders, and the literature” with Travis Yates and colleagues. This article appears in Disasters July 2023 issue. This study suggests a need for a renewed focus on basic WASH services, collaboration across stakeholders, and research on WASH outcomes beyond health.
