Dr. Kediende Mapuor Akec Chong is a Public Health Physician from the Republic of South Sudan. After working for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Chong was elected in 2015 to the position of Chairman for the Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) for South Sudan. He helped develop and implement the necessary structural and functional reforms that reinstated the CCM South Sudan as fully compliant and eligible for funding.

Dr. Chong will discuss :

• Strengthening Community Health Systems to attain universal health coverage and reduce maternal mortality in South Sudan.
• The recently released report South Sudan: Estimates of crisis-attributable mortality” by Francesco Checchi and his team at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
