This report is a review of agricultural development trends in the Karamoja sub-region of northeast Uganda. The review was conducted in early 2018, and involved consultations, interviews, and workshops in Karamoja and Kampala, and a review of published and grey literature.
In Karamoja, 623 women and men participated in focus group discussions across agro-pastoral and agricultural areas of six districts, supported by researchers from the Nabuin Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute and the Karamoja Development Forum. In Kampala, key informants included representatives of the Office of the Prime Minister.
The review covered both crop farming and transhumance livestock management and examined agriculture at the levels of both policy and programming.
