How interdisciplinary training can help reduce the health impacts of climate change
Tackling the health impacts of climate change isn’t for the medical and public health fields alone.
In a commentary published in The Lancet Planetary Health, a global consortium of researchers led by Feinstein Research Director Erin Coughlan de Perez calls for the integration of climate and health education and research across a broad range of disciplines.
Our vision is that students studying earth sciences, social sciences, and arts are exposed to curricular content on climate and health, with the aim of developing a truly interdisciplinary workforce that can meaningfully reduce the health impacts of climate change.
The authors identify how students and professionals in a variety of non-medicine disciplines can support adaptation strategies, highlighting how diverse perspectives spark innovation, strengthen communication, and boost collaboration.
