On August 16, Feinstein research director Helen Young presented at Ahfad University for Women in Omdurman, Sudan. Helen discussed preliminary findings from a new study that follows a scoping study, “The Road to Resilience.”

This follow on research explores the varying impact of a wide range of climate and other shocks on the livelihoods of different communities in Darfur and their process of recovery. Helen, along with other researchers, will be investigating why certain households appear less resilient, and have been unable to move into the income streams necessary to fully recover from conflict and other shocks. The report on this research is forthcoming.

Tufts has had an MoU with Ahfad University for Women since 2001, and the two universities have collaborated on a number of research projects.
